These organizations were created in response to the atrocities that happen amongst the black community and to help prevail justice. I created prints of this art piece, which are currently on sale on my website whereby I am donating 100% of the profits shared between this charity, Black Lives Matter and Campaign Zero. Through this, I learned of the Innocent Project. I was driven to find my own way to help so I conducted research on how I could help with similar scenarios. Shocked at how this horrific story was not only true but also fairly recently. This was when I came to realization of the white privilege I was born with, and learned of the systematic oppression of black people in our country, and globally. During my lifetime, this movement is the largest one I have experienced and I wanted to speak up and help as an ally.Ī year ago I watched “When They See Us” on Netflix, a series based on the Central Park 5. I am a privileged white woman who will never be able to understand the oppression that these black individuals have been subjected too, nor be able to comprehend the emotions of grief and pain they are enduring during this time. I created this art piece because I felt compelled to show my support for the black community during these challenging times.
